Charmaine Burke founded Art of Communicating in 2007.

She started her career at IBM, developing a strong passion and rich understanding of the power of communication and interpersonal relationships in the business world.

The desire to create her own business took hold in 1990 when she developed her own successful business, supplying academic institutions around the world with specialised programs and training sessions to help people read, write and communicate in English.

She holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40110); NLP Practitioner; Advanced Toastmaster in Leadership and Communication; Voice and Speech Specialist (NIDA); Business Administration Cert IV. Charmaine has 20 years experience in creating, managing and leading teams in 2 previous communication businesses, as well as 10 years creating and facilitating training programs.

Alfa is a fully qualified Adult Educator and Trainer (B Ad Edu) with Adv Dip Commerce, and Cert IV Training and Assessment (TAE 40110).

She is a Distinguished Toastmaster and Leader. She chartered the highly successful Manly Multilingual Toastmasters Club in Sydney and was Toastmasters Area 22 Governor, District 70, 2011-2012. She is also a member of the Australian Institute of Training & Development, and a member of UTS Alumni Association.

Alfa’s success is founded on a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experience and building strong, long-standing relationships with clients to obtain the best possible outcomes.

Brian Prior, Training FacilitatorBrian Prior

Brian has more than 40 years professional experience in engineering, manufacturing and the computer industry. During that time he had to hone his communication skills to make presentations on behalf of his companies and their products, and services to major Australian organisations such as Woolworths, Coles, Toyota, Specsavers, Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Brian is an Advanced Toastmaster and is currently President and Vice President of Education of Newcastle Toastmasters, and a member of Charlestown Toastmasters. In the past he was Area Governor, Club President, he has assisted in chartering two clubs, conducted Speechraft courses for adults and Youth Leadership courses in schools.

"Working in technology I had to continually update my skills because my industry evolved at such a rapid pace. As I worked on my communication skills, I realised this is one of the few skills that can sustain and accelerate one's career and business prospects."
